Deer, neighborhood pets in Port-Menier
Baie-Sainte-Claire is one of my favorite sites to practice photography on Anticosti Island. A former state of the art, modern village during Menier's era, this historic site is inhabited by hundreds of deer which graze freely on grass in the abandoned fields. Nearby, Pointe-Ouest is a magical place where it is common to see bald eagles and even snowy owls during their migration in the fall. Port Menier is the only village on the island. Deer are considered neighborhood pets there, which makes it a marvelous place for photo opportunities. The deer are greedy, fearless of humans and very abundant... several photos can prove it...
